Next Christmas

Strange to relate, from our perspective, this is the perfect moment to be thinking about what to make for Christmas 2014. This woodblock printed linen by Margaret Calkin James from 1936 is inspiring. We found it being used as an endpaper in the Persephone Books re-issue of The Runaway by Elizabeth Anna Hart. That lead us to her Penguin-esque book design for the V&A from 1931 (well pre-dating Penguin) and the wonderful signboard to her design business, the Rainbow Workshop. Now we’re thinking deeply about red, white, black and grey as a colour-scheme.
